Ancient Egyptians had atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries. Atherosclerosis was found in over half of the mummies recently CT scanned by a team of Egyptologists and cardiologists. Some of the mummies had been deceased for more than three thousand years.Atherosclerosis was widely believed to be a modern disease.
